What is a Heart Attack

A heart attack occurs when an artery that sends blood and oxygen to the heart is blocked.

Symptoms of A Heart Attack

  • Chest Pain/ Pressure in Chest

  • Pain or discomfort that spreads to the shoulder, arm, back, neck, jaw, teeth or sometimes the upper belly

  • Cold sweat

  • Fatigue

  • Heartburn or indigestion

  • Lightheadedness or sudden dizziness

  • Nausea

  • Shortness of breath

Chain of Survival

  1. Early Recognition : Learn to recognize the symptoms of a heart attack

  2. Activation of Emergency Response System: Call emergency services immediately

  3. Early CPR: Learn basic CPR

  4. Rapid Defibrillation: AED will increase the chances of survival

  5. Advanced Life Support: Urgent care from hospitals will improve the patient’s quality of life.
