Concussion

Symptoms:

  • Headache

  • Confusion or feeling dazed

  • Temporary loss of consciousness

  • Nausea or vomiting

  • Slurred speech

  • Fatigue

  • Dizziness or loss of balance

  • Sensitivity to light or noise

First Aid Treatment:

  1. Ensure the person rests and avoids any physical or mental exertion.

  2. Apply a cold compress or ice pack wrapped in a thin cloth to reduce swelling. Avoid direct contact with the skin.

  3. Over-the-counter pain relievers, as recommended by a healthcare professional, can be used for pain management.

  4. Keep a close eye on the person for any worsening symptoms and seek medical attention if necessary.

Seek Immediate Medical Attention:

  • If there is a loss of consciousness lasting more than a few seconds.

  • If the person exhibits persistent vomiting.

  • If there are signs of severe confusion, weakness, numbness, or slurred speech.

  • If symptoms worsen over time or if new symptoms develop.
